About Infanta Lambanog
Tanduay Asian Rum
This is a story of two lifelong friends who quit their "nine-to-five" jobs and embarked on a mission to find, learn and create the very best premium lambanog to share with the world. With the burning desire for success, a sense of pride to fuel their passion and a handful of savings to bootstrap their business, they ventured into the unknown to follow their dreams.
Infanta Lambanog was named after Infanta, a town in the province of Quezon, Philippines, also known as the "Gateway to the Pacific". On November 13 to December 3, 2004, three successive typhoons crippled the coastal town of Infanta. Cold turbulent waters swelled to heights of 15-20 feet and swept through the town in a span of three hours, taking several lives along the way. The flash floods carried logs due to illegal logging that destroyed farms, homes and everything in its path. With the only road leading into the town blocked by devastation from the disaster, Infanta was isolated for a week with no means of communication, electricity, drinking water, or food. Residents relied on relief brought in by air led by the Philippine Red Cross and other non-profit organizations.
A Philippine Red Cross volunteer named Israel, came to the obliterated town to give back to his nation through service and to help rebuild all that was lost. He was stationed in the home of a priest who had a coconut farm and lambanog distillery that was destroyed by the flood. For weeks he lived with no electricity and barely any food and water to survive, armed with only the strength and compassion in his heart, he was determined to uplift the spirit of the lost town.
During Israel's last day of service, the priest gave him two bottles of lambanog from what was left of his destroyed distillery as a token of his gratitude and appreciation. Upon returning home, Israel invited his dear friend, Marc Padilla, for dinner over a bottle of lambanog to share his experience. Marc was intrigued and inspired by his story and being that it was his first time trying lambanog, the memory never left him and held it close to his heart. On August 17, 2007, Marc moved to San Francisco, California and was reunited with his childhood friend, Randy Ramiro.
Young and out of college, Marc and Randy shared a similar story and were inspired to create an identity for Filipinos and Filipino-Americans to unite them as a culture by introducing Lambanog to the American Craft Spirits industry.
Infanta Lambanog was founded on April 20, 2009 by Marc Padilla and Randy Ramiro, touched American soil for the first time on August 2013 and today they are continuing history.
